DJ Pogo, aka "Dr. DoItAll, aka "The Best Part of Waking Up" has
these different nicknames for a reason. This DJ has not been in the
game for a long time, but he is already starting to make some noice in
the hip-hop scene. The name "Dr. DoItAll" refers to DJ Pogo's
ability to do almost everything. If you know Pogo then you know that he
is capable of doing, creating, or inventing almost anything you can
think of, hence the name "DoItAll". Now the other name "The Best Part of Waking Up" has
a slightly different backround. DJ Pogo is most known for his extremely
hyper, funny, and hard-working attitude. It's almost as if he has just
downed 3 cups of espresso. He also was given this name due to his
constant hard work. DJ Pogo is known for being on the grind daily,
which is why the Folgers reference, "The Best Part of Waking Up" is
used. If you've heard a track done by DJ Pogo than you will now realize
why his known sample from "The Best Part of Waking Up" has a backed up meaning.
When DJ Pogo was about 13 years old he witnessed a party done by
Chicago's own, DJ Speed. His experience of this party was what jumped
off his career. Starting with a $30 mixer and one turntable, DJ
Pogo began his career as a DJ. After a while of playing around with his
equipment, DJ Pogo started to gain interest in producing. Never taking
this hobby too seriously, Pogo started to make beats for friends and
local artists. He then realized that he wanted to use some of his beats
to scratch on and make mixes out of. With the stunned reactions of his
peers, DJ Pogo began to take his DJing career more serious.
As the
years went by, DJ Pogo found a local artist/friend in his high school
and started a small group together. They were called, "Fresh N' Foolish", although
the group didn't stay together very long, Pogo realized that music was
what he wanted to do. He began to market himself to his peers and
promote to anyone and everyone he could find.
As soon as he hit
college, DJ Pogo quickly found a job as a Tuesday Night DJ at a popular
bar in Peoria, IL. With the rapid fans this DJ was making, he noticed
that Peoria was the right place to start off. Soon after DJ Pogo
stopped working as a club DJ, he decided to turn to mixtapes. He wanted
to be able to break new artists and work with already established
artists as well.
Being constantly on his grind, DJ Pogo began to
make connections with some well established artists and record labels.
He began working with Taj Mahal from the Senate, Jazzy Kennedi, SunNY
from SOSO Def, The Heatmakers, and many others. His first mixtape was a
showcase of Chicago's hottest underground artists. With his success
from this tape he decided to step his game up a level. He started a new
series called "The Detonator Mixtape" and he began working with
many up and coming artists from all over the country. With his soon to
be released Vol.1 DJ Pogo had artists such as...
Taj Mahal
SunNY
Jazzy Kennedi
B.O.B.
Rosco
L.G.
Jim Jones
Juelez Santana
Unkasa
and
many others on his tapes. With his constant grind efforts there is no
telling what is install for this young DJ next. All he can say is that
he appreciates everyone who has supported him throughout his career,
especially his family. This website will keep you posted on what's
happening with this DJ.
